This necklace is built around a brass-body low gourd (hulu), finished in pure natural raw lacquer. The earthy-yellow coat shows a fine crackle — each piece a little different. Seven gold-over-silver beads sit on the vine and cord. Chinese lacquerware you wear, not a printed charm.

Materials & Construction

• Pure natural raw lacquer: The gourd is hand-coated in raw Chinese lacquer — tree sap, not paint or resin. Thin coats cure in humidity until the surface is smooth, slightly luminous, and cool to the touch.
• Brass-body low gourd: The focal is a compact hulu form on a brass core, about 35mm. Brass holds the shape and weight; lacquer holds the color.
• Gold-over-silver beads (7 pcs): Seven gold-over-silver beads finish the vine stems and cord — gold layered over silver, not gold-tone alloy.
• Earthy yellow: A muted ochre with visible crackle. Easy with linen, olive, terracotta, and a simple gold chain.
• Adjustable braided cord: 35cm (13.8 in), sliding knot, no clasp.
• Weight: 24.9g. Sits at the chest without pulling on the neck.

Styling Notes

Wear it alone over a round neck, or with a thin gold chain. The yellow reads as clay and sun, not costume gold.
